Pilot diffuser: This diffuser is specially constructed (LANTERN Claude S.A.S) to conduct the countercurrent diffusion used in sugar-beet industry. It is equipped with a jacket for maintaining the temperature, a temperature control box, fifteen mesh baskets for transport of cossettes and a cell insulated from the other surfaces of the diffuser for pulsed electric field treatment. The diffuser consists of 14 sections separated by a double wall for insuring the passage of water from top to bottom through the basket of cossettes. The capacity of the diffuser is 7.2 kg of juice per hour and it treats 6 kg of product per hour.
